Michelle, you'll definitely want to stop by Iron Fish in Beacon, as well as Relic across the street and the other antiques shops along the length of Main Street. I honestly wind up finding a lot of things on Craigslist and at consignment/junk shops, so it's hard to give recommendations. If you're looking for a great place to have lunch while you're in that area, go to Caffe Macchiato on Liberty Street in Newburgh! There are a couple of consignment shops right around there (hit or miss), as well as a guy who sells stuff out of his garage (again, hit or miss). Good luck! :)

i adore these tiles especially!
hey, we live in brooklyn and have been admiring your blog...we have next week off and were thinking of taking a few trips to some of the areas you have mentioned scavenging. any recommendations of shops in particular we should check out?

ya know, our bathroom tiles are the same color...we always thought they it was a kind of odd yet appealing color and now i'm thinking this yellow and black must have been very hip in the 20s-30s which is also when our building was constructed (and considering by the condition of our tiles they are original). i have to take a photo this weekend so i can show you.

That cabinet on the left is amazing. I think Anthro carries something like that in red but I never knew what I would do with it! So cool.
