Oh what a treasure room! I don’t see mess, I see a lot of opportunities! Like you do too, I guess. When we bought a new lamp for the table, I hesitated between the Random Light from Moooi and the Coral from David Trubridge. But now I see how much work you spent on the Coral, I’m glad we went for the other one, which came ready-made… I still think it’s one of the prettiest lamp designs of our decade though!

I guess there are advantages of not having an extra room because if we had one I’m sure I would buy a lot more things without a designated place or function just because I liked them and hoped to find somewhere later.

But as far as clutter goes your room is not really that bad.

AHJ: That's the PS cabinet from IKEA -- it's a classic! :) No professional vintage-selling for me. I don't have the time, and I really don't want to get into a situation where I'm having to store things in my house. I just want to get rid of what's in excess now, and not ever get myself into this kind of situation again. I really don't like having rooms I can't use...

Anna, where did the locker-style sideboard in this room come from? I’ve been trying to find something like that for years.

I’m sure this room will evolve into something great. And don’t be afraid to “deaccession” the stuff you just don’t have time to fix — you have your entire house as a project, after all! :-)

Have you ever thought about opening up an Etsy store to sell vintage finds?

Okay, you all are being WAY too nice by complimenting anything that's going on in this room!! This is the biggest room in the house, and it deserves better... C: The work over the mantle is a collage by my father. You can see it more clearly here. Katharina: We've bought the house 3 years ago, so I'm not sure we're shining examples of time-efficient renovators! :) And we do everything on the weekends. After a 2-hour commute home in the evening, we don't really feel like doing much other than eating and hanging out with our dogs! zee: Oh, IF ONLY I could close the door on this!!! Alas, WE HAVE NO DOORS. Well, we have doors, but they're not hanging in the doorways. They're still stacked up, waiting to be painted... Jo: You're the best. I hope you're not inundated with requests, but if anyone contacts me (um, within a reasonable period of time...), I will put you in touch! LeeAnn: I did actually consider that after the first hole, but by the time Fritz had totally destroyed each of the six cushions (not seen here -- my mother has adopted them with plans to recover and use them as floor seating in her house), it really became pointless. If you read the post I linked to above about the sofa, you can see what we decided to do instead. So far, it's worked out for us very well. :) Fiona: We don't really have a place for the Danish sofa (or the Fritz-chewed sofa), so it will most likely be up for adoption at some point. It needs to be reupholstered, but it would be a great project for someone with the time and the need.

Ooh! I just saw Jo’s post. I’d totally be interested, and Jo, I would pay a fee for your trouble. (Maybe you should start an Ebay or Etsy reselling business!) I’d love to go to NZ, but I guess that wouldn’t be too cost-effective. :P
