Oh, what a lovely story Anna – he reminds me so much of our
cat Gino who we rescued too over 2 years ago! He’s also a “tuexdo cat”!!!! Sylvester’s a very lucky little fella!!

I’m very happy for you and the cat, I have a dog adopted since 2005 is found in the street in a poor state and a kitten that my husband found under a car on a rainy day, you can see some pictures in my blog.

This is so generous and commendable!
Since he comes up for affection so quickly, Sylvester may have formerly been a pet and dumped by some evil someone. There are a few strays that pop into my yard from time to time and I can’t resist feeding them either. I have two inside my home, so cats really melt my heart. I have my eye on a kitten down the street and I think I’m going to grab him and bring him into the shelter for adoption… if only I could get him to come over to me!

Ooooh Anna ! I just came across this post and I am so touched ! Thank you so much for Sylvester and your kind heart !!!
I am a complete cat nerd and if I was living in a house, it would probably be filled with stray cats by now… As it is I am sharing my flat with my two cats – Charlie and June – and since beginning of the year, a little stray whom I called Watson. I found him half starved stranded in the courtyard of the building next door. But he is doing fine now and has adapted remarkably to life indoors – and to his older “brother” and “sister” :-)
You did exactly the RIGHT thing ! Thanks very much for sharing.

Anna,

My father once adopted a white fluffy cat that took up residence in our neighborhood. My father called him “whitey.” (original, no?) When my dad ‘s care would pull up to our house, that cat flew down the driveway like a dog greeting his owner. He fed him and would cuddle with him; no one else could. Similar, but different, no?

Thanks for sharing bits of your life. Such a brave thing to do. You rock.

There were some people in the neighborhood feeding cats and then they upped and left–leaving the cats behind. And not just one–lots! The neighbors got the local humane society to fix most of them and I ended up fixing (and adopting) 8 of them. I still have 3 of them and 3 went to good homes. We can’t keep everybody in at night (too much fighting, drama, and vomiting) so the two outdoor cats get a late supper and sleep on the covered patio at night. I’m crossing my fingers hoping that they stay safe.

Our Sylvester is Sebastian, black & white, lovely as much as dirty :-) – he was also stray cat for longer time but one Xmas we gave him food, water and bed on our porch – the rest is history.
How does dogs look on this new porch tenant?

Aww, that’s sweet! Sylvester has some some resemblence of home and family even if he isn’t directly in your home. At least now he will have a comfortable place to stay under your porch in the upcoming winter. And man, he is gorgeous!
