D16 in Lonny

The new issue of Lonny magazine is out today, and guess what? I’m in it! I was invited to share some of my favorite things with Lonny readers in their ‘Blogger Style’ column. It was so much fun to put together this little collection.

You can read the entire April 2013 issue of Lonny online, including my feature — I’m on pages 34–35.

Huge thank yous to my friend Ilenia Martini for taking a photo of me that doesn’t involve a bathroom mirror or an iPhone.

You look absolutely lovely! How awesome!

Congratulations! Also, I’ve been meaning to tell you–your stylist/colorist is amazing. I know you’re a natural blonde but your color looks completely natural with your skin tone. It’s hard to make blondes look naturally brunette and brunettes look naturally blonde, so whoever you’re seeing knows what’s up. You look great.

p.s. Too bad I couldn’t find a way to use a variation of the word natural one more time for a solid 5th time. Oh! Just did.

    • Anna @ D16 April 10, 2013 at 10:53 am

That’s my natural haircolor! I’ve never been blonde. But thank you!

    • Jules April 10, 2013 at 11:02 am

Hah! We just had this conversation on Twitter. I sweat I’m going cuckoo because I thought you wrote a post where you said your natural color was a dark blonde. Well. That certainly explains why your color looks so…natural!

Well done Anna! Good to see you get some press in Lonny.

Nice spread–I’m also a tremendous fan of Ariele Alasco (currently saving for a panel…or headboard…)

However, that Pif Paf Puf is new to me — love it! Any idea if they sell it in the U.S.?

    • Anna @ D16 April 10, 2013 at 10:44 pm

I don’t know of a retailer in the US, but they will ship here. There’s a contact address in the Lonny article! 🙂

Congrats! And thanks for introducing me to Lonny, I’d never heard of it before. Is it an online-only mag?

    • Anna @ D16 April 11, 2013 at 8:45 am

Yes! It started in 2009 after Domino folded.

  • Reply Taylor April 11, 2013 at 10:44 am

Publishing that Cross Blanket price should be a prosecutable offense.

    • Anna @ D16 April 11, 2013 at 11:00 am

Huh? I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying. $100 is actually on the low end for a very high quality, ethically-produced, heavyweight blanket. What are you comparing the price to? IKEA? (Don’t get me wrong, I love IKEA, but they don’t sell anything that comes close to this textile-wise in terms of quality and standard of production.)

Of course, you didn’t say you object to the price of the blanket, just the fact that it was published. Does that mean you don’t think magazines should print prices? If so, why are you only upset about the blanket? Why don’t you take issue with the $4300 sofa or the $600 lamp or the $52 candle? You chose to call out one of the least expensive items in the spread, and probably the one with the lowest true cost markup. Why?

Good thing they don’t make that blanket in the (much more expensive) wool version anymore. You might have suggested public hanging.

    • Taylor April 11, 2013 at 12:37 pm

Sorry, Anna, to be confusing. What I meant what that $99.80 doesn’t seem to be a very accurate representation of the price of Cross Blankets. I love the blankets and am happy to pay the price for all of the quality and design reasons that you mentioned (I actually have!), but as a US customer there is no chance of getting that blanket for anything close to that price. They’re about 2 and a half times that price – at least they used to be. Are they making baby sizes now? Am I losing my mind? All valid questions.

    • Anna @ D16 April 11, 2013 at 12:53 pm

Thanks for clarifying, Taylor, I’m relieved! Sorry for getting a little crazed. 😉

The price listed is for the smaller size — if you click the link in the article, it will take you to the Pia Wallén website, where both sizes are listed. The smaller size is indeed about $100 USD, and the larger is about $270. The prices are listed in Swedish krona, and exclude VAT and shipping. Mjolk in Canada (where I got mine) actually sells them for a bit less, but they don’t carry the smaller size or the gray color — that’s a Pia Wallén exclusive. You might try contacting them to see if they can get one of the smaller blankets in stock for you, though, if that’s what you’re hoping to buy.

I’m not aware of a US-based retailer for the Cross blanket at any size. At any rate, that price is accurate!

    • Taylor April 11, 2013 at 10:03 pm

Crazy is always welcome and apologies not needed! I wasn’t aware of the small size sold through Pia Wallen’s shop – I actually didn’t realize that she had finally launched her online store. All clear now.

      Thanks for all you do.

Congrats Anna! Plus you look amazing in that photo. What lip color or combination of colors are you wearing in it?

    • Anna @ D16 April 11, 2013 at 4:00 pm

Thanks, Lena! The lipstick is MAC’s Lady Danger. 🙂
