Yeah, I could live there.

Stockholm apartment - doorsixteen.com

Yeah, I could live there is an occasional D16 feature wherein I post pictures of homes I want to break into, kick out the inhabitants and move in. This time, kicking out the inhabitants may not be necessary, since this Stockholm apartment is recently listed for sale at Fantastic Frank. Of course, since I don’t have 6,350,000 kronas lying around, I may need to sneak in a night and then invoke squatters’ rights. I’ll let you know how that all works out. (Note to self: Research squatters’ rights in Sweden.)

Speaking of fantastic Franks, can we talk about those Josef Frank textiles in the living room?! Elefant on the chair and a cushion, and the entire sofa is done in Lotus. I love the combination of colors and patterns happening here!

Can I tell you something weird? Until the moment I saw this photo, it had never occurred to me that white walls with slightly off-white moldings could look good. Actually, it never even occurred to me that it was a thing someone would do. What a great combination! More people with fancy woodwork in their houses should try this, I think.

Gosh, those floors. I love pickled/whitewashed pine! Also, that map wallpaper in the bedroom on the right looks like it could be cool. Do you know where it comes from?

So pretty! Those brass doors on the wood stove are fabulous. OK, the whole wood stove is fabulous! And that photo on the right is making me miss my fiddle-leaf fig tree. I’m sure Evan is taking good care of it, but I think it’s time for me to get a new one—if for no other reason than to worry on a daily basis that it’s on the verge of dying, and then to feel grateful when it lives to see another day.

All photos via Fantastic Frank! See more photos of this awesome apartment here.

I think the wallpaper might be this Ralph Lauren one: http://m.engelskatapetmagasinet.se/sv/articles/2.223.5724/ralph-lauren-expedition-novelty-map

Looks like it, Elin, thank you!

My head is reeling – we (the UK) have just voted to leave the EU, the Prime Minister’s resigned and Anna’s just posted for the FIFTH time in a single week. It’s too much to take in.

Love the new bedroom lighting though and that apartment is the total business – if I could persuade them to give it to me for pennies and they took all their furniture with them, it’d still be cracking.

Kate, believe me, my head is reeling over the state of the world’s madness right now, and it’s sort of all I can do to blog about stuff like light fixtures and apartments. Five posts in a week may be a defense mechanism!

Wasn’t meant to sound snarky – loving your new posting regime – long may it continue!

It helps! Show us the pretty 🙂

I echo Kate. Thanks for reminding us of pretty and equally important stuff in the midst of craziness (OTOH, Supreme Court this morning? Awesome!).

Also in this apartment (on the FF site): the lamp over the dining table. LOVE.

Your posts always leaving me inspired and refreshed, thank you. Since it is a Stockholm apt., the floors may be a Scandinavian lye & soap finish, I just experimented with this technique on some old pine wide plank boards and even some red oak, and it was much less daunting and more satisfying than I expected. And the wood feels so good to the touch. you’ve provided me with so much visual inspiration AND technical info over the years, I thought I’d share back for a change, you can see some of the results of the lye/soap floors on my Instagram if you like!

I told our painter I wanted one apartment WHITE, the whitest white white that he could muster from his suppliers. YET he made the ceiling a whiter white than the walls, and the walls a whiter white than the woodwork. It’s all very subtle, but it gives definition. He’s right. I admit it.

    Hi
Talk about a coincidence! My son & I were walking (on a street in Toronto) and found that exact glass coffee table, just last Sunday! In perfect condition. We just hailed a cab to drive it to his apartment. The table is very heavy, what a find! Thanks for all the great new posts. Love them!

What an incredible find, Jane!! Well done.

I discovered how that paint combination worked by accidental experimentation. One apartment after college had that yucky apartment “white” color; however, I was allowed to paint. So, mostly because of laziness, I painted the walls a crisp white and left the moldings alone. It did the job of enlivening the whole place while also making the repaint at the end of the lease easier.

It’s really inspired me. I like these colors and all this interior!

I love the white walls with the pale beige or cream trim. Especially useful to open up rooms without a lot of ambient light, and offers so much flexibility to change the look of a bedroom. Can you share the paint colors used in the picture with the black chair? Thanks so much!
