Dreaming of a vacation home.

Maybe it’s because I spent the entire 3-day weekend repairing a 125-year-old window in my kitchen, but lately I’ve been fantasizing about having a second house. A vacation home! Now, if I were to have a second home, it would have to be the opposite of the one I already have—in other words, the architecture would be contemporary and it would be in a rural setting.

What about this one?

It’s a couple of hours north of here, with views of the Catskill mountains. The main house is 900 SF, and the studio/converted barn is an additional 1000 SF. It sits on 15 acres of land (surrounded by 10,000 acres of protected state land!), with its own spring-fed pond. Really, it’s perfect. It’s cheap, too, but unless it suddenly drops in price by about 75% (which I suppose could happen in the current real estate market!) it will remain a fantasty.
