Grey Tuesday.

Filed under books, four legs, sewing

I’m curled up on the sofa with my coffee and a manuscript for a book I’m working on the cover for. The story is told from a dog’s point of view, which sounds really awful, but it’s actually quite smart and well-written. I’m still trying to figure out what the protagonist looks like and what kind of dog he is, but that information can really only come from the dialogue of other characters in the book (I do know he has one black ear and one white ear). Dogs, apparently, don’t spend a lot of time looking in the mirror or worrying about their fur color.

I made Bruno a new bed on Sunday (big enough for two!), and he’s enjoying it more than I expected he would. I just sewed an oversized envelope-style pillowcase out of linen, and put a really soft down pillow inside. I was thinking about sewing on a circle of boiled wool in the center, but now that the weather is slowly, slowly getting a little bit warmer (I still need a scarf, though), I think I’ll just leave it as is.

p.s. The plumber is coming today! By this afternoon, all of the roughing in should be done.

Maybe he´s lying there all the time because he knows soon there will be another one, who could take his place :). Dogs can feel such changes coming.

Jana, I think you’re right! He hasn’t slept normally for the last two nights (and he’s been waking me up at 3am instead of 5am, UGH), either. He knows what’s coming!

*sigh* Can I just curl up inside the relaxation of your world for a little while? This blog makes me think your life must be so peaceful. :)

Kay, for whatever reason, it took me 5 years of looking for a perfect, simple pillow for my dog to come to the realization that I could probably just sew a rectangle in about 20 minutes and have exactly what I wanted. So…I did! Now I’m thinking about making dog toys, too.

Kelli, oh no, you’ve got it all wrong! Sure, there are definitely moments of peace, but my life gets pretty hectic. A little dog or two helps to ease the stress, though.. :)

I’ve recently re-entered the net-sphere via the design/apartment therapy world (past phases in other hobbies/net realms came and went) and the amount of home/design blogs to discover is overwhelming. For some reason I think Door Sixteen is going to be one of the ones that ’stick’ that I’ll remember to check. I have a crush on your home but in particular your rug. My SO vetoed it for our house so I will come visit your blog and live vicariously seeing it here in its lovely context!

Your puppy is adooooorable and I really like that mug up above as well!
